I received an email from Soft Scrub recently wondering what my cleaning routine is. My first thought was that I don’t have a routine but the more I thought about it, the more I realized how wrong that really is. So, because I am a Soft Scrub Club Captain, I am going to share my thoughts with you. I am wondering what your routines are as well, so read through and leave me a comment about how your cleaning routines are the same or different than mine.
Each day starts the same. I wake up and come down the stairs to the kitchen. I have been using the Soft Scrub Total Kitchen for several months now and I grab that first thing. I clean my kitchen from left to right. I start on the counters and work my way around. I clean the outside of the dishwasher, the stove, and microwave along the way. I then organize and clean the island countertop. This is my biggest problem area because it seems to be the gathering area for all stuff. After I clean the counters, I run a rag over the kitchen table. I then sweep up the floors. I only mop once a week or as needed. I could do it more often but I would need some extra help and in the end, I would probably end up hiring a cleaning service.
After working through the kitchen, I clean the front and back glass doors. I use the same cleaner for all of this so it is pretty easy to get it done quickly. Next, I will clean the TVs and computer screens of fingerprints and dust off the desk and TV cabinets.
Finally, I make my way into the bathroom on our lower level. This is the one that gets used the most. Right now, I clean it about twice a week but the toilet gets cleaned more often than that usually. I use Soft Scrub Total Bathroom cleaner in there and work from right to left. I spray the counter and mirror and clean those. I then clean the towel rack, toilet paper holder, doorknobs, and then the toilet itself. Most days I can just clean the toilet and the rest will be good but sometimes the kids get crazy with washing hands and I have to do more.
I vacuum every other day unless it needs it more than that. I dust once a week usually but sometimes that gets pushed off if I don’t have time during the week. I have been having more problems breathing when cleaning lately so I have avoided dusting. 🙂
My upstairs is neglected more in regards to cleaning and I have yet to find an easy way to fit that into the day with 3 kids running around downstairs. I have two full bathrooms upstairs and four bedrooms that need to be cleaned. I wish I could say I was able to clean up there everyday but it just doesn’t happen. That is a goal of mine though!
My big thing is that I like to go to bed with a clean kitchen. Waking up to a kitchen that has a bunch of stuff that needs to be put away is just a bad feeling. I don’t mind cleaning the counters every morning but having to organize and put things away just starts my day off wrong. Therefore, I always try to have everything put where it belongs the night before. I don’t like dishes staying dirty overnight and prefer those to be ran through the dishwasher at night. I try to empty that during the day and keep up with loading dirty dishes throughout the day so it isn’t a big chore to do before bed.
That’s about it. What is your cleaning routine like?
Disclosure: This is my personal opinion and thoughts. I will be entered for a chance to win a year’s supply of Soft Scrub Total in thanks for this post. I was not compensated for this post. I mentioned Soft Scrub Total because I use it and love it. That’s it!

I do not really have a “routine”. That is probably why I feel like I am cleaning all the time!

I like Soft Scrub as a cleaner. I don’t clean like I use to but we do pay our daughter to clean for us. With my severe asthma (COPD) it can be very difficult for me. I love a clean house and my daughter is OCD about that!
