Being pregnant this time around seems so unreal. I know I am pregnant but it is hard to believe it. I can see changes in my body… yes already! I have to say that was a bit disappointing considering my maternity clothes are lacking greatly. But, I do see my belly “popping” out already. I can feel the nausea and tiredness. I know I am pregnant but it is just so out of my realm of reality right now.
Part of the problem is that early pregnancy is a test of faith, in my opinion. There are no movements. You feel nothing and yet have to just know and believe that everything is going along smoothly in that uterus of yours. I have tremendous faith but I am also a Missouri girl and follow our motto — we are the Show Me State. Show me that the baby is okay. Show me movements, let me hear that heartbeat, let me feel that baby. Early pregnancy is a rough time for me.
All that said, I am so excited about what is to come. I just hope that sooner rather than later I will get the “real” feeling about this pregnancy versus the unreal one. Otherwise, this baby may be sleeping with Joley and wearing dishtowels for diapers. Okay, so that is far-fetched I know. I will get there around 20 weeks, if not sooner when I see that little baby moving. Then, we will start our real planning and figuring out what the baby will sleep in and pick a name.
Tomorrow marks 11 weeks for me. I have a doctor appointment on Tuesday and then I will have an ultrasound at 12 weeks because of “advanced maternal age”… which by the way, is ridiculous. I am going to be 35 this summer. Nothing like making me feel ancient with an “advanced maternal age” associated with my pregnancy. I am not old darn it! Regardless, these next few weeks will satisfy my “show me” mentality so I am happy!
I will keep you informed as to what is going on. In the meantime, I think naming babies is overrated and plus-size maternity clothes are like finding a water reservoir in the desert. 🙂

Yikes, 35 is an advanced maternal age? I think they are just covering their butts – 35 is not an advanced age!

Glad to hear that everything is going well so far in the pregnancy (except for the nausea and tiredness of course). The first few weeks are rough… I was always happier once I could feel the little ones moving. Good luck at your next appointment!
