Google+ Tutorials

I have had several people ask about how to add the +1 button to your business page as seen here:

+1 button

This is really very easy!  Once you have created your business page, head over to the Google+ Badge Configuration Tool.  Once there, you are going to grab the numbers associated with your business profile and plug it in.  You will then choose which badge you want to use.  If you do not like any of these badges, you can use one of your own and click on “no badge”… but you still need to complete the next step.

Add +1 button

No matter what badge you choose to use (or none), you need to grab the code at the bottom.  You will enter this between the <head> and </head> section of your blog html.  This will allow Google+ to know that you own the blog and link the page to you.

If you don’t want a badge and want to skip that whole step, simply use the following code:

<link href="{plusPageUrl}" rel="publisher" />

Replace {plusPageUrl} with your Google+ page URL.  This allows visitors to be able to add your Google+ page to Circles simply through their search results.  It also creates the +1 button on your business profile!

Keep in mind it may take a few minutes for this all to occur, but it will happen!

Let me know if you have any problems… and be sure to check out my other Google+ Tutorials!

Tutorial: Promoting Your Page and Adding to your Business Page Circles in Google+

November 30, 2011
Promote Google+

Promote your page! Now that you have set up your business page on Google+, it is time to start promoting it.  Start by sharing your page with all the contacts you have in your personal profile. You will do this by clicking the “spread the word” button on the right side of the page. It would also be a good idea to write a blog post about your new page and share about it on Twitter and Facebook.   Adding a button to your blog would be a great option as well.  If you currently use GFC, I would suggest sending out a newsletter letting your followers know where they will be able to find you once GFC is gone. Adding to your Google+ Business […]

create page

I am going to walk you through creating a business page for your blog today.  Start by signing into your profile.  On the right side, you will see the following: Click on “Create a Google+ Page”. You will now see a Create Page form in front of you.  For most bloggers, I would recommend clicking on the “Product or Brand” but feel free to check out your other options! Add your Page name and website.  Under the “Select a Category”, I would recommend choosing Website.  Choose your privacy settings and then agree to the Terms.  Click on Create and you are finished! Now it is time to upload a photo and share with all of your friends in your Circles. When you go to your […]

Tutorial: Get A Google+ Vanity URL

November 27, 2011
Google Plus Vanity URL

This is not so much a tutorial but a sharing of information.  Enjoy! One of the main things I hear people complaining about with their Google+ page is that there are too many numbers.  Google+ does not allow a vanity URL as you are used to with Facebook because it makes it open to spammers finding email addresses (remember that many people have Google emails as their main Google+ email).  But, that doesn’t mean you don’t have to remember your numbers to share your page with someone. All you need to do is head over to gPlus.to and follow the simple directions. What you will end up with is a much shortened version to add to your business cards or to share with people you […]
