As you may know, Johnny wears uniforms to school everyday. I bought all of those uniform shorts from Marshall’s back in July. But, there are days when he has to “dress up” for school, which basically means he can wear nice jeans and other clothes that look decent. Sadly, my kid wears a ton of track pants and sweats so his “dress up” clothes were very limited. In addition, just because he wears uniforms to school doesn’t mean he doesn’t need back to school clothes for his everyday wear. As all parents know. back to school shopping isn’t just about what kids wear to school. If Johnny were in public school, his everyday clothes would be the same ones he now wears in the afternoon and evening. Essentially, we have to buy two sets of clothes for him to wear everyday.
Last week we were faced with a bit of a dilemma. Johnny had picture day at school and needed an outfit to look nice for his pictures. He had nothing left over from last year that could fit the bill for dress up clothes. So, off to Marshall’s we went! The boy’s department was out stopping point.
Finding clothes for Johnny’s size is proving to be a challenge but Marshall’s was a lifesaver when it came to my must-have items. I needed to find Johnny at least one or two pairs of jeans and then some nicer track outfits that he likes to much for his everyday wear. We had $50 to spend and I am very pleased with what we came up with! I spent $10 extra to get him one outfit that he liked the most. All together, I found the following: black CK jeans, Osh Kosh jeans (not pictured because they are dirty!), Puma tracksuit with shirt, Puma tracksuit with lighter shirt, and a pair of Nike track pants.
We are so happy with the clothes we were able to get at Marshall’s. I am a big fan of both Marshall’s and T.J. Maxx. In fact, I head over there often just to see if they have anything new that I like. Just this past week, I went again and found a pair of Dansko shoes for me for only $50 (they are normally and I have paid $120 for them!).
On a side note, we did have a very bad customer service experience the first time we went to Marshall’s for this shopping campaign. The Osh Kosh jeans that I found were the only pair available but they were missing a tag. I really liked the way they fit Johnny and wanted to get them so we headed to Customer Service to get a price check. I was shuffled between people until finally I was able to talk to someone who could help. She took the jeans and went back towards the boy’s section while I waited… and waited… and waited. A good 20 minutes went by and I finally had enough (as did the kids who were being incredibly patient but ready to go). I asked the Customer Service person again about my pants and she had no idea what I was talking about but called the girl back up to the counter. The girl told Customer Service that my pants were sitting on the rack behind the counter and she had brought them up to Customer Service about 15 minutes prior. I have no idea where the communication disconnect occurred and received no apology for my wait. I have never had that kind of issue at Marshall’s before but this one was a big one and I felt I needed to share with you all for the sake of honesty. Did it stop me from going to Marshall’s again? Nope. I told you, I am a big fan!

A huge thanks to Mom Central for giving us the opportunity to do some back to school shopping. Not only was it fun to get out and do some shopping but it gave me an excuse to head out of the house with my kiddos for some mommy and me time.
