I really do love my 16 year old step-daughter Tayler. Her homecoming dance is tomorrow night. We were supposed to go dress shopping last weekend but Tayler became ill and we weren’t able to get out. She had a full schedule this week and we just weren’t able to find much time to go look. So, I asked her if she would be willing to let me go and find a dress for her (as I had done before when we didn’t have time). She agreed.
I went out earlier this week and found some dresses that I thought she might like or might look good on her. Did I think she would like them all? Probably not, but I asked her to keep an open mind because sometimes things look better on than when you see them off. We had a “fashion show” on Tuesday night and she narrowed her choices down to 3 out of the 6 I bought. Yes, I bought 6 dresses because I wanted her to have a selection of what she would like to wear.
Some didn’t fit. Others weren’t what she liked. That’s fine… I totally expected that. She then narrowed it down to two dresses and is making her decision off that. I bought her a pair of black platform heels and some chunky black jewelry to wear as well.
Tayler is a pain in my side a lot. She is a typical 16 year old with a bad attitude at times and thinks the world revolves around her. But, she is a good kid. She tries hard in school and is respectful and understanding about our family dynamics and having younger siblings. She is becoming such a beautiful young woman and I am proud to say she is my daughter… even though she isn’t.
I will share pictures this weekend of whatever dress she chooses!
She is going to not be pleased with that picture… and my response to that is… I NEED MORE PICTURES! 🙂
